 존경하는 국내외 귀빈 여러분! 그리고 거창군민 여러분!

 제34회 거창국제연극제가 "고전의 울림, 변화의 메시지"라는 주제로 오는 7월 26일부터 8월 9일까지 15일 간의 일정으로 거창군 일원에서 막을 올립니다. 

 지난 30여 년간 꾸준한 전통을 이어온 거창국제연극제는 야외에서 열리는 국내 최대 규모의 연극 예술 축제로 자리매김 하였습니다.

 올해에는 우리나라를 비롯한 7개 국가에서 총 51개의 연극 단체가 참가하여 총 76회의 공연을 선보이게 됩니다. 또한, 부대 행사로는 거창 지역의 누정을 체험할 수 있는 "거창한 누정문화축제"와 한여름 무더위를 시원하게 날려줄 "워터밤" 행사도 준비되어 있어 더욱 풍성한 즐길 거리를 선사할 예정입니다. 

 또한 국내외 다양한 예술인들과의 교류를 통해 서로 소통과 협력으로 새로운 아이디어와 영감을 얻을 수 있는 기회를 제공함으로써 지역경제 활성화와 함께 문화예술분야의 발전에도 크게 기여할 것으로 기대됩니다.

 우리 거창군은 그동안 문화예술 발전을 위해 많은 노력과 지원을 아끼지 않았습니다. 거창은 아름다운 자연과 유서 깊은 역사, 그리고 다양한 문화가 어우러진 아름다운 도시로서 매년 수많은 관광객들이 찾아주고 있습니다.

 이러한 환경 속에서 열리는 거창국제연극제는 지역주민들은 물론 전 세계인들에게도 큰 관심을 받으며 대한민국 대표 축제 중 하나로 자리 잡았습니다. 

 우리 군은 이번 연극제가 성공적으로 진행될 수 있도록 최선을 다 할 것이며 거창군이 대한민국 최고의 연극도시로서 발전해나갈 것을 약속드립니다. 이를 위해서는 지역주민들 뿐만 아니라 전국 각지에서 많은 관람객들이 관심을 갖고 참여해 주신다면 큰 힘이 될 것입니다.

 Admiring guests from home and abroad, and Geochang-gun residents! 

 The 34th Keochang International Festival of Theatre will be opening from 26th of July to 9th of August for 15 days throughout Geochang-gun under the theme of “The resonance of Classics, the Message of Change”.

 Keochang International Festival of Theatre, which has continued its steady history for over last 30 years, has established itself as the largest scale outdoor domestic theater art festival.

 This year, a total of 51 theater teams from 7 countries, including Korea will join and present 76 performances. Additionally, there are side events such as “Geochanghan (grand) Nujeong culture festival”, where you can experience the Nujeong in Geochang and “Waterbomb” which will cool off in the summer heat, and it will offer even more entertainment.

 Also, it is expected to contribute significantly to the development of the field of culture and art, as well as to the revitalization of the local economy, by offering opportunities to get new ideas and inspiration through cooperation and communication during the exchange among diverse artists from home and abroad. 

 Our Geochang-gun has put in a lot of effort and supported for the development of culture and art. Every year, numerous tourists visit Geochang, which is a beautiful city with stunning nature, a long history and a harmonious blend of various cultures. 

 Keochang International Festival of Theatre, held in such an environment, has established itself as one of Korea’s representative festivals, attracting great interest from both local residents and people around the world. Geochang-gun County promises to do our best to ensure the successful execution of this year Keochang International Festival of Theatre and to help Geochang-gun grow into the best theater city in Korea. It will be greatly encouraging if both local residents and a lot of tourists from across the country give their interest and join the festival.

 Therefore, for people who are planning a summer vacation this time, I highly recommend to visit Suseungdae, where you can enjoy theater whilst appreciating beautiful nature. A summer vacation in Geochang will provide you with special memories.
