제33회 거창국제연극제를 찾아주신 여러분, 대단히 반갑습니다. 역사와 명성을 자랑하는 거창국제연극제의 개막을 축하드리며, 함께해주신 국내외 연극인과 관객 여러분께 환영의 인사를 전합니다.

먼저, 거창의 문화예술사업 향유를 위해 항상 애쓰시는 구인모 거창군수님과 거창문화재단, 박상원 조직위원장님을 비롯한 관계자분들과 참석하신 여러분께 깊은 감사의 인사를 드립니다.

올해 서른세번째로 개최되는 거창국제연극제는 오랜 전통과 역사를 이어온 대한민국의 대표적인 야외공연 축제로 지역의 예술문화를 연결하는 교류와 화합의 장으로서 연극발전에 기여 해왔습니다. 특히, 이번 연극제는‘알고보면 더 재밌는 상상’슬로건처럼 무한한 상상력을 발휘하고, 관객들과 많은 교감을 통해 더욱 빛나는 공연이 될 것으로 기대됩니다.

무엇보다, 이번 연극제를 위해 수없이 땀 흘리고 노력하신 우리 배우 여러분들이 있기에 훌륭하고 품격 있는 하나의 작품으로 완성된다고 생각합니다. 꿈을 향해 대담하게 나아가고, 열정 가득한 과정 하나하나가 성공을 향한 첫걸음입니다. 과정에서 나온 독창성이 더욱 빛을 발휘하여 연극인들의 화합과 도약의 무대가 되기를 바랍니다.

아울러, 많은 관객들이 거창의 수려한 자연을 배경으로 연극을 통해 일상의 여유와 풍요로움을 만끽하는 감동의 시간을 보내기를 바랍니다. 그리고 15일간 펼쳐질 연극제에서 관객들의 아낌없는 관심과 사랑을 느끼며 관객, 배우 여러분 모두 특별하고 즐거운 축제의 장이 되기를 바랍니다.

The audience who visit the 33rd Geochang International Festival of Theatre, I'm greatly glad to see you. While celebrating the opening of the Geochang International Festival of Theatre with history and fame, I send welcome to domestic and foreign theatrical people who participate in and audiences.

First of all, send my gratitude to governor of the Goechang-gun Goo In Mo who always put efforts for Geochang's culture and art enjoyment and Geochang culture foundation, the chairman of the organization committee Park Sang Won and the people concerned and people who attended.

The 33rd Geochang International Festival of Theatre, which is the representative outdoor theater festival of Korea with long tradition and history, contributes to progress of Theater as a place of exchange and harmony that connects art and culture of region. Especially, this theater festival is expected to become an even bigger event through the communication with audiences and show unlimited imagination as its slogan "funnier imagination when you see after knowing it!".

Above all, I think that actors who sweat a lot and worked hard for this theater festival complete it to a great elegant work. Bald progress toward dreams and every process with passion are the first step toward success. I hope this stage to be where the creativity from process shines more and theater people harmonize and leap.

In addition, I hope that many audiences spend impressive time with relaxation and richness of the daily life through play against beautiful nature of Geochang. And while feeling endless affection and attention of the audiences for 15days of festival, I hope that the festival becomes special and pleasant to all of the audiences and actors.

Anyway, I hope that Geochang will become the best culture and art city in the nation, and furthermore hope the region's theater, art and culture to be activated and bear abundant fruit. I wish each family of who attend here to be fulled with health and happiness.

한여름 밤 시원한 계곡 소리와 아름다운 자연을 배경으로, 제33회 거창국제연극제 대단원의 막을 성대하게 올리게 된 것을 매우 기쁘게 생각하며, 진심으로 축하드립니다.

여러분들도 잘 아시다시피 프랑스의 아비뇽 페스티벌은 세계적인 연극축제의 대명사이며, 프랑스의 문화를 널리 알리는 데 큰 역할을 하고 있습니다.

우리 거창도 아름다운 천혜의 자연환경뿐만 아니라 연극고등학교가 있고, 연극·예술 복합단지 조성사업을 추진하는 등 연극 도시로서의 인프라를 구축해 나가고 있어, 거창국제연극제 또한 아비뇽 페스티벌과 같은 세계적인 연극축제가 될 잠재력을 가지고 있다고 생각합니다.

거창국제연극제가 아비뇽 축제와 같은 세계적인 연극 축제가 될 수 있도록 여러분의 많은 관심과 성원을 부탁드립니다.

영국이 낳은 세계 최고의 극작가 셰익스피어는 “인생은 한 편의 연극이다”라는 말을 남겼습니다. 이 말은, 우리가 사는 인생 속에 일어 날 수 있는 희로애락이 한 편의 연극에 모두 담겨 있기 때문이라 생각합니다.

축제기간 연극을 통해 무대 밖 관객의 입장에서 여러분들의 인생을 바라보며, 지금까지 본인의 인생을 성찰하고, 앞으로의 인생을 그려보는 그런 시간을 가져 보시기를 제안 드려봅니다.

다시 한번 거창국제연극제 개최를 진심으로 축하드리며, 한여름의 축제를 신나게 즐기시며 무더위를 날려 버리시기를 바랍니다. 감사합니다.

Residents of Geochang-gun! Audiences who visit Geochang! I'm mighty glad to see you.

I am truly celebrating and sincerely thrilled for the grand opening of the 33rd Geochang International Festival of Theatre against cool valley water sounds and beautiful nature on midsummer nights.

As all you know, Avignon Festival of France is the epitome of a global theater festival and plays a big role in promoting French culture.

Our Geochang has the beautiful heavenly gifted natural environment, but also has a theater high school and is establishing its infrastructure as a theater city by promoting theater and complex art projects. Therefore I think the Geochang International Festival of Theatre has the potential to become a global theater festival similar to the Avignon Festival.

Please give a lot of attention and support so that the Geochang International Festival of Theatre can be a global theater festival too.

The best playwriter in the world, Shakespeare said, "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players.". This means, all sorts of human emotions experienced in our lives can be contained in a play.

I'm suggesting you have time to look back your own life and picture your future while looking at your life as the audience outside of the stage during the festival.

Whilst celebrating the opening of the Geochang International Festival of Theatre, I hope you escape the heat by enjoying the festival during mid summer. Thank you.

축제 준비에 애써주신 구인모 거창군수님, 박상원 거창국제연극제 조직위원장님을 비롯한 관계자 여러분, 수고 많으셨습니다. 공연을 위해 경남 거창을 방문해 주신 연극인과 관람객 여러분께도 격려와 환영의 말씀을 드립니다.

올해 서른세 번째로 개최되는 거창국제연극제는 도내 연극인들의 자긍심과 창작 욕구를 고취하기 위한 대표적인 축제로 다양하고 수준 높은 연극 작품을 선보이며 경남 연극의 예술적 위상을 높이는 데 기여해왔습니다.

이번 연극제는 ‘알고 보면 더 재밌는 상상!’이라는 슬로건으로 총 54팀이 연극을 다양하게 선보이게 됩니다. 깨끗한 물과 자연경관이 어우러진 거창 수승대 일원에서 다채로운 연극과 함께 퍼포먼스를 즐길 수 있는 풍성한 볼거리로 지역을 대표하는 축제가 되기를 기대합니다.

경남도는 연극을 비롯한 다양한 문화를 즐길 수 있는 환경 조성을 통해 도민들의 삶의 질 개선과 함께 문화 향유권을 강화해 나갈 수 있도록 관심과 노력을 이어가겠습니다.

Nice to meet you, theater lovers. This is Park Wansoo, the Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do. I sincerely congratulate on that the city of Theater, Geochang, Gyeongsangnam-do, hosts the 33rd Geochang International Festival of Theatre.

I would like to appreciate for the efforts of festival officials who put efforts into preparations for festival including Geochang-gun governor Gu Inmo and the committee chairman of the Geochang International Festival of Theatre Park Sangwon. I would like to express my encouragement and gratitude to the theater artists and visitors who visited Geochang, Gyeongsangnam-do, for the performance.

The 33rd Geochang International Festival of Theatre as the representative festival in the province to inspire the pride and creative desire of theater people in the province has contributed to raise the artistic status of Gyeongsangnam-do's theater by presenting various and high quality theater work.

This time theater festival, 54 teams plan to show various performances under the slogan 'funnier imagination when you see after knowing it!'. I hope that the Geochang International Festival of Theatre becomes the significant local festival through rich attractions that people can enjoy various play with performance in Suseungdae, Geochang, where clean water and natural scenery are harmonized.

Gyeonasangnam-do will continue putting interests and efforts to improve the Gyeomgsangnam-do residents' quality of life and the right to enjoy culture through fostering the environment where people can enjoy various culture including theater.

While hoping that the Geochang International Festival of Theatre to enrich the culture and art of Gyeongsangnam-do more, I hope that the family of everyone who joins the festival to be full of health and happiness. Thank you.

빼어난 자연경관 아래 예술을 꽃피우는 거창에서 제33회를 맞은 거창국제연극제의 화려한 개막을 진심으로 축하드립니다. 거창은 자연경관만으로도 충분히 볼거리가 넘치는 도시입니다. 그러나 무엇보다 거창의 가장 큰 매력은 예술적 가치를 소중히 여기고 야외연극 축제를 통해 시민의 문화 예술 향유권을 높이는 일에 앞장선다는 점이 아닐까 싶습니다. 거창의 아름다움이 절정에 이른 이 여름날, 연극제를 통해 일상에서 벗어나 잠시간의 여유를 느낄 수 있는 시간이 되기를 바랍니다.

이번 거창국제연극제는 ‘알고 보면 더 재밌는 상상!’이라는 주제로 관객들과 만납니다. 올해 참가한 국·내외 팀의 수준 높은 작품들이 거창 시민, 나아가 대한민국 국민과 해외 관객에게까지 연극예술의 아름다움과 즐거움을 선사하리라 생각합니다. 이 자리를 함께 만들어갈 관객 여러분께서도 아낌없는 성원과 설레는 마음으로 함께 참여해 주십시오.

1989년부터 시작된 거창국제연극제가 30여 년간 꾸준히 개최된다는 것은 분명 거창군이 가진 문화의 힘일 것입니다. 물론 오랜 역사가 쌓인다고 해서 좋은 축제가 만들어지는 것은 아닙니다. 명확하고 단단한 지향점을 향해 많은 분의 애정과 관심이 뒷받침되었기에 가능했다고 생각합니다. 그렇기에 올해도 관객 여러분들의 적극적인 축제 참여를 기대해 봅니다. 이번 거창국제연극제를 위해 애써주신 관계자분들께 감사 인사를 전하며 보이지 않는 다양한 곳에서 축제를 위해 헌신하시는 모든 분에게도 응원의 박수를 보냅니다. 감사합니다.

I'm truly congratulating the grand opening of the 33rd Geochang International Festival of Theatre in Geochang where art blooms in the superb natural scenery. Geochang is a city with beautiful scenery. But the biggest charm of Geochang, I think, is valuing art and leading to elevate the citizen's right to enjoy culture and art through the outdoor theater festival. Early summer time when the beauty of Geochang is in its zenith, I hope you get away from your daily life and relax for a moment through the theater festival.

This time Geochang International Festival of Theatre meets audiences with " funnier imagination when you see after knowing it!". I think the high quality performances of the domestic and foreign teams, which participate the festival this year, will give joy and beauty of theater art to Geochang residents and even further Korean people and overseas audiences. Audiences who will make this festival together, please participate with generous support and excitement.

The reason why the Geochang International Festival of Theatre which started since 1989 can be held consistently is definitely Geochang's power of the culture. long history is not the reason to make a good festival. I think many people's affection and attention which were supported toward a clear and solid direction make it happen. So, I look forward to audiences' active participation in the festival this year as well. I would like to send gratitude to staffs who put efforts for the Geochang International Festival of Theatre and send applause to everyone who dedicates to the festival in various places. Thank you.
